SRC Weyburn Campus moving to Weyburn City Centre Mall
Weyburn –Renovations are already underway at Weyburn’s City Centre Mall to accommodate Southeast Regional College students and staff. By December 31, 2012 the College will occupy over 16,000 square feet of mall space formerly used by Fields, V&S, and a flower shop, as well as the pet shop space the College began leasing last Fall. The College will also continue to house its Administrative Offices on the corner of 4th and Railway.
The move is a result of the Weyburn Comprehensive School and South East Cornerstone Public School Division’s high school renewal project. The King Street location that the College currently leases from the school division is slated for demolition, requiring the College to find temporary space for its Weyburn campus until construction of a new facility is complete. Once the new facility is ready, all Weyburn College staff and services will move back under one roof.
The College’s mall location will include eight classrooms, as well as the IT, Registrations, Student Services, and Campus Services teams. One other temporary location was considered in addition to the mall; however, after reviewing its options with the Ministry of Advanced Education, the College felt that the mall was the most functional and cost effective option.
This move is a change of location and will not affect College programs or services. For a complete list of courses available at Southeast Regional College, please visit www.southeastcollege.org or watch for the Fall issue of Tradewinds to arrive by mail in early August.
