2009 Swing for Scholarships Golf Tournament
The Southeast Education Foundation and Southeast Regional College are pleased to announce that we will be holding our 11th annual Swing for Scholarships Golf Tournament on Friday, September 18, 2009 at the Weyburn Golf Club.
This annual tournament is held to raise money for scholarships that are distributed to full time vocational/technical students (SIAST) and university students enrolled at any of the Southeast Regional College Campus’ for the 2009 – 2010 academic year. Last year $41,625 was awarded to students attending the Southeast Regional College. Proceeds from this tournament will be matched by the Government of Saskatchewan through the Centennial Merit Scholarship program.
Craig Brown, President and CEO of Southeast Regional College, is thrilled that each year we are attracting more golfers and sponsors in the southeast region thus increasing the monies raised. “The College Awards Program, supported through events like this golf tournament, helps to break down financial barriers to locally delivered education and training. Bursaries and scholarships encourage students of all ages to pursue post secondary training within the Southeast Region.”
The Southeast Regional College Awards Program is administered by the Southeast Education Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization, which supports education and learning initiatives in Southeast Saskatchewan.
Brown states that even though the tournament is traditionally held in Weyburn, it is still a regional fundraising event. "The college brings great value to our Southeast Communities and we want the cause of education and training to be top-of-mind for potential donors. The Swing for Scholarships Golf Classic is one way to support college students in each of our communities."
Tournament participants can support this worthwhile cause through a fun event, including 18 holes of “Texas Scramble” golf, steak supper, chances at Hole in One prizes and various other prizes. Entries are limited to 36 teams, so early registration is encouraged. Contact Sheena at the Southeast Regional College for more information – 848-2559 or 637-4931.
