Literacy
The Program
Tutors meet with the learners on a weekly basis to assist them with reading, writing, math, English as a Second Language, or other skills depending on the objectives set out by the learner.
The Literacy Attendant provides the match with suitable learning materials and will provide ongoing support for both the learner and the tutor.
The Learner
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be out of school for at least one year.
- Must have a desire to learn.
- Must be able to meet for 1-2 hours per week.
The learner must complete an application form and have a short interview with the Literacy Attendant.
Learning objectives will be determined as well as suitability for the program. The Literacy Attendant will then work to find a suitable tutor and subject material for the match.
The Tutor
- Must want to help adult learners.
- Must be able to meet 1-2 hours per week.
The tutor must complete an application form and have a short interview with the Literacy Attendant. The Literacy Attendant will then work to find a suitable learner for the match.
