Get the Early Safety Training Advantage

Early Safety Training is a collection of affordable safety training courses for youth 16-21 years old.

With these safety tickets, you will gain a leading edge in obtaining summer or full-time employment. This training is highly recognized and valued by most employers.

Early Safety Training is being offered throughout the year or offered as a one-week package at various locations throughout the Southeast Regional College region.

What does the Training Cost?

Full Package Price - $240-$380 (4 courses)

Example:Package of 3 core courses + H2S= $290
Bursary awarded= $191
Cost to participant= $99

Initially, you must pay the full cost. Youth who successfully complete the package of four courses and the Early Safety Training Program bursary application will pay only $99.

Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) – Cost: $50
H2S Alive – Cost: $100
Forklift Operator – Cost: $95
Off Highway Defensive Driving – Cost: $84
Ground Disturbance Level I – Cost: $70
Confined Space – Cost: $100
Petroleum Safety Training (PST) – Cost: $55
Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) – Cost: $30
Fire Extinguisher – Cost: $50

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

    Q: Why is the recommended age for H2S and Confined Space 18 years?
    According to Saskatchewan Occupational Health & Safety Regulations 14 (2)(e), an employer or contractor shall ensure that no person under the age of 18 years is employed in any activity that requires the use of an atmosphere-supplying respirator.

    Q: Can I apply for a bursary if my high school or employer has sponsored my safety courses?
    You may only apply for a bursary if you have paid for the courses yourself.

    Q: How long do I have to complete the Early Safety Training Program in order to qualify for a bursary?
    You must complete the required courses within one year from the date of your first course.

    Q: Can my 15-year-old son or daughter take the courses and qualify for a bursary?
    Yes, as long as they turn 16 within one year of taking their first course.

    Q: How long does it take to receive my bursary reimbursement?
    Bursaries are processed within 6-8 weeks.
