Confined Space Simulator
The Saskatchewan Energy Training Institute provides a mobile training simulator that is the most up-to-date and unique simulation unit of its kind in Canada. During training, the participants will be given problems to solve which will be specific to actual work and rescue scenarios. The unit comes equipped with some of the latest in confined space equipment safety and rescue, including:
- Six Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and spare cylinders
- Two Supplied Air Breathing Apparatus (SABA)
- Three bottle cascade recharging system
- 12 confined space specific fully body harnesses
- One Stokes Litter Rescue Basket
- One SKED Stretcher
- 4 Infrared Cameras to monitor and record participant's progress
- Rope and Hauling Devices
- Command Centre for technology and communications
- One Tripod Rescue System for elevated rescues
The unit is designed with seven distinct exercise chambers to allow the trainee to experience varying degrees of difficulty while being exposed to instructor controlled and monitored hazards. The walls of the training unit are made of medium gauge flat steel, as well as the sliding doors and gates for added safety and interactive learning capabilities while enabling the trainee and trainer to view one another.
