“Capacity Building for Elected Officials and Municipal Employees”
As the world of municipal government evolves, so must the skills of our municipal employees. To be truly responsible and adaptable to the needs of ratepayers, our municipalities are looking to not only retain their employees longer, but are recognizing the need to create strong training and development programs.
To help rural and urban municipalities in this goal, Southeast College has partnered with the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) and Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA) to provide dynamic and informational leadership workshops that will help elected officials and municipal employees build on their core business, supervisory and leadership skills.
After the completion of three workshops, a Level 1 certificate will be awarded that is endorsed by SARM/SUMA and Southeast College; after six, participants will receive a Level 2 certificate; and after nine, participants will receive a Level 3 certificate. Participants will now be required to self-declare that they have completed sufficient classes to receive their certificate.

What does “Online Live Classes” mean?
Online Live Classes are synchronous events organized in a live virtual meeting room where students and teachers meet together to communicate with voice, video, and text presentations. Online Live Classes require students and instructors to be online at the same time. All attendees must be online and connected to the internet at that specific hour, in their home or office setting. During Online Live Classes the students are able to interact with their instructor and other class members to participate in the class or ask questions.
Online Courses are delivered asynchronously where students learn on their own schedule (self-paced learning) without any real time instructor. The course content, lessons, pre-recorded video lectures and tutorials, tests and quizzes, homework and assignments may be access by the students enrolled in the course at any time, provided the course is active and available.
