Coding Club
Coding Club – Junior (Grades 3 – 5) This class is now full
Learn the basics of coding and programming for computers in this 8 week course. Using beginner-friendly block coding resources, mostly Scratch and Microsoft MakeCode, students will be introduced to programming skills such as looping, nesting, sequencing, and debugging, as well as work on other skills, including creativity, problem solving, perseverance, and critical thinking.
Throughout this 8 week course, students will animate and create playable computer games.
Coding Club – Senior (Grades 6–9)
Senior students will work on more complex game and animation projects while developing greater independence in problem-solving and design. The class will also introduce basic ideas around AI tools, including simple prompting for creativity and troubleshooting, as well as reinforce respectful, responsible online behaviour and digital citizenship.
Teen Coding Lab (Grades 8–12)
Students design and build real-world digital projects while learning coding fundamentals and computational thinking.
Throughout the program, participants will:
- Explore coding using current platforms
- Develop skills in planning, prototyping, and testing projects
- Learn how to use AI tools appropriately for brainstorming and troubleshooting
- Build confidence in teamwork, communication, and presenting their work
