Essential Skills for the Workplace (ESWP)

Build your confidence to take the next step in your career or education journey by participating in Southeast College’s Essential Skills for the Workplace program.

This program will focus on three key areas:

  1. Employment Readiness and Workplace Skills – This will include career exploration, resume and cover letter preparation, job search and interview skills, industry courses and certifications, workplace expectations and work placement opportunities.
  2. Literacy Enhancement and Academic Preparation – Refresh and develop literacy skills in communication, math and computers related to the workforce and further training.
  3. Personal Life Management – Gain personal insights to enhance self-understanding; identify and address potential factors that impact successful entry and retention in the workforce and school.

Skills for Success

Students have their choice of three different career training paths through our Skills for Success Essential Skills program.

  1. Adult 12 – Students can use the ESWP program to prepare to transition into Adult 12. Students may earn credits towards their Adult 12 while enrolled in the ESWP program.
  2. Transition to Post-Secondary – Students may be eligible to enroll and complete 1-3 introductory post-secondary courses or short programs (i.e. ECE Level 1, HEO, etc.)  Students can enroll and complete these post-secondary courses at institutions such as  Saskatchewan Polytechnic, University of Saskatchewan, or University of Regina.
  3. Transition to the workforce  – Students will receive entry level certificates to help in their transition to the workforce ( i.e. safety certificates, First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, H2S, Confined Space, Food Safety, Drivers’ Education, micro-credentials, etc.)
