Industrial Mechanic – Millwright

Program Overview

This 16-week program gives you a working knowledge of machinery common to most industries and an introduction to preventative maintenance procedures. This program covers all level 1 subjects and is recognized by the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission (SATCC). Work experience of 2 weeks is part of the program.

Industrial mechanics are also known by other trade names (maintenance mechanics, millwrights or machine repairmen).

Courses

Your Career

Graduates may find employment in commercial or industrial operations that use machinery. These include wood, cereal, meat processing and power generating plants, hard rock and potash mines, mills, and refineries.

Trade time and academic credit may be available for graduates who find employment in the trade and register as apprentices. Please contact the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission for further information.

Admission Requirements

• Grade 12 with the following mathematics: Foundations of Math 20 OR Workplace and Apprenticeship Math 20 OR Pre-Calculus 20
• English language requirement

*In order to ensure prompt acceptance into our program, applicants should make every effort to ensure that applicable transcripts have been received by our Registrar’s office within 5-7 business days of program application*

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Students are required to purchase/have

• safety glasses,
• safety footwear (steel shank and toe, green triangle CSA stamp),
• fire-retardant long sleeve coveralls, and
• ANSI A2 gloves.

Indigenous Equity Seats

Starting in the 2025-2026 academic year intake, designated seats will be available in many of the College’s full-time programs for students of Canadian Indigenous ancestry. This initiative aims to support Indigenous students in their educational pursuits and ensure they have the opportunity to succeed in their chosen fields. Applicants in designated groups need to meet program admission requirements. Apply early for your best opportunity to qualify for an equity seat, as they are limited in number. The College will release any unfilled seats starting on April 30^th .
