About the Exhibit

Atim Maskikhiy (“Dog Medicine” in Cree) presents works by seventeen artists from the La Ronge tri‑community area in Northern Saskatchewan. The multimedia pieces explore the dog–human relationship through preliminary findings of a community‑driven research project, blending artistic expression with lived experience.

By combining art and science, the exhibition broadens access to research‑based knowledge while highlighting the need for improved animal health and welfare services in northern, remote, and Indigenous communities. The works affirm the importance of dog–human bonds to life and well‑being in the North and call attention to systemic gaps in current approaches to addressing dog‑related challenges.

Southeast College is proud to offer innovative and flexible programming that encourages students to learn where they live.
