May 28, 2018

Southeast College students received $35,150 in scholarships and bursaries at Southeast College’s Industry-Education Luncheon, held on Tuesday, May 15th at the Weyburn Legion.  The awards were presented to students in various Weyburn programs including Adult Basic Education, 3rd Class Power Engineering, Continuing Care Assistant, Hairstylist, Practical Nursing, and University.

“This is just an awesome day for the College, our students and our supporters,” said Jeff Richards, VP of Strategic Development for the College.  “It’s an opportunity to celebrate all the hard work that our students put into their education, and point out to people some of the great opportunities our College provides our students through our relationships with various partners.  And of course we want to express our sincere thanks to the outstanding support we receive from our donors,” he added.

Southeast College scholarships and bursaries are made possible by donations from community organizations, businesses and individuals, as well as various fundraising events such as the College’s Swing for Scholarships Golf Tournaments.  Eligible funds are matched by the Ministry of Advanced Education through the Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity Scholarship (SIOS) program.  Of the $35,150 awarded in Weyburn, $15,450 was contributed through the SIOS program.

Southeast College is proud to be the Trainer of Choice in southeast Saskatchewan offering educational opportunities that encourage students to learn where they live.  A number of post-secondary programs are now accepting applications for 2018-19, including instructor-led University of Regina courses in Weyburn, Estevan, Moosomin and Indian Head.  Interested students can find program information and apply for the program of their choice online at www.southeastcollege.org or visit any of the College’s campus locations for more information.
