Mentors ‘N Manicures – A New Mentorship Program Launched in Weyburn For College’s Hairstylist Students

March 15, 2017

Discovering unique ways to help students succeed. That’s the focus of Southeast College’s new “Mentors ‘N Manicures” initiative.

Launched in early 2017, the program matches students from the College’s Hairstylist program with female community leaders from Weyburn and area. The mentorship program consists of three sessions to assist and develop leadership potential and build specific skill sets necessary to thrive as leaders in business in our local communities. Mentors are in turn treated to beauty treatments of their choice courtesy of the students.

“The College’s Mentors and Manicures program is a unique opportunity offered to our Hairstylist students,” stated Jeff Richards, VP of Strategic Development with Southeast College. “The intent of the program is to provide our students with an opportunity to better understand what it takes to pursue their professional and personal goals.”

One of this year’s mentors Twila Walkeden, Executive Director Weyburn Chamber of Commerce and Weyburn Regional Economic Development, had this to say about the program, “Mentorship is such an important component of career development, regardless of age and experience.  It’s been my great pleasure to work with the Southeast College hairstylist students and faculty over the last few months as a mentor!  This opportunity has truly enriched my life and I am grateful to be a part of it.”

Applications for the 2017-2018 Hairstylist program are currently being accepted. Interested students can find more information about the program and complete their registration online at www.southeastcollege.org.

Southeast College is proud to offer innovative and flexible programming that encourages students to learn where they live.
