Southeast College Food Bank Challenge Results Announced

The results are in! Southeast College staff and students from campus’ in Weyburn, Indian Head, Estevan, Moosomin and Whitewood combined for an astonishing 817 pounds of food to donate to local food banks. The food drive challenge was part of an inter campus competition that was spearheaded by the Weyburn Campus staff and students.

“This is the first time we have done a competition of this nature at our College Campus’,” stated Sheena Onrait, Manager of Marketing and Communications for Southeast College. “We are so proud of all of our staff and students for supporting this initiative and we certainly have set the bar high for next year’s competition.”

Collection bins were placed in all of our campus locations including Weyburn, Estevan, Moosomin, Whitewood and Indian Head. Donations were collected over a two-week period at each location. Weyburn and Indian Head campus’ combined for 362 pounds and Estevan, Moosomin and Whitewood combined for 455 pounds!

“We value the communities that we are a part of and this is just one small way we can give back to them,” said Dion McGrath, President and CEO of Southeast College. “We are overwhelmed with the amount of food that our staff and students brought in, they really took this challenge and ran with it.”

Southeast College is proud to be the Trainer of Choice in Southeast Saskatchewan, serving approximately 8,000 learners and producing over 5,000 graduates annually. The College contributes over $19 million to the region’s GDP and offers innovative and flexible programming that encourages students to learn where they live.
