Southeast College Receives Additional Funding for Practical Nursing Seats

January 31, 2023

Southeast College, in conjunction with the Ministry of Advanced Education, is pleased to announce the expansion of our Practical Nursing program. Southeast College has received a one-time additional funding increase to support the addition of fourteen new Practical Nursing seats as part of the province’s Health and Human Resources Action Plan. The program will start in September 2023 at our Weyburn Campus.

“Southeast College is very pleased to receive additional funding to assist with the training of nurses in rural Saskatchewan,” states Dr. Vicky Roy, President and CEO of Southeast College. “The addition of this intake of Practical Nursing students is very timely for our institution as we typically carry an extensive wait list for this program. The additional cohort of students will not only help to reduce the waitlist but will continue to support the Government of Saskatchewan’s Health and Human Resources Action Plan.”

Applications for the additional intake of Practical Nursing students will be accepted immediately with Year One of the program starting September 2023. For more detailed information including important application deadlines and information, please visit our website at

In addition to the PN seat expansion, earlier this year Southeast College announced the addition of a Continuing Care Assistant program located in Assiniboia. The funding for this program is also part of the healthcare seat expansion.

Southeast College is proud to offer innovative and flexible programming that encourages students to learn where they live.
